Kings Palace Museum (Nyanza)

The beautifully designed woven building, which resembles a beehive, is the King's Palace, a replica of the ancient royal home.

Nyanza used to be the capital of Rwanda. Tradition from the past states that conflicts over dominance took place there.

The monarchy was nomadic for a very long time, relocating the court to different places. When it finally made landfall, Nyanza was an obvious destination. Up to 2,000 people lived in the kingdom's capital, which had cottages constructed using the same techniques as those shown here.
